Dr. V.R. Godhaniya Information Technology College
Dr. V. R. Godhaniya I.T. College, Porbandar, per its own official history, was bifurcated as an independent institution in 2017, growing out of Dr. Virambhai Godhaniya College of Arts, Commerce, Home Science & Information Technology. It now operates from its own campus opposite the New Airport on the Rajkot-Porbandar National Highway.
The roots go back further: the parent Trust institution introduced computer education in the region starting with a CCS certificate course in 1988 and a part-time DCS diploma in the early 1990s. From 1999 to 2016, IT education ran as a dedicated self-financed department under the parent college, affiliated to Saurashtra University, Rajkot — training students through BCA, B.Sc.(IT) (formerly BIT), PGDCA, DCS and M.Sc.(IT & CA). In 2016, as part of a Government of Gujarat academic restructuring, the institution came under the affiliation of Bhakta Kavi Narsinh Mehta University (BKNMU), Junagadh.
Today the college offers BCA and M.Sc. IT for the 2026-27 admission cycle as an independent, AICTE-approved Information Technology institute.
