Kendriya Vidyalaya Porbandar
Kendriya Vidyalaya Porbandar was established in October 1988, initially functioning from the Madhvani College campus until 2002, before moving into its own building in 2003. The school is situated near Coast Guard DHQ-I, opposite Birla Factory, approximately 3 km from the railway station and 2.5 km from the S.T. Depot.
The school has been selected under the 3rd Phase of the PM SHRI scheme, a Government of India initiative to upgrade select schools with modern facilities. Kendriya Vidyalaya is part of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan network — the world’s largest chain of schools, with over 1,250 Vidyalayas across India and three abroad.
The school offers Scout & Guide programmes and conducts educational excursions, National Space Day observances, and Independence Day celebrations as part of its co-curricular activities. Admission follows the centralised KVS lottery system, with reservations for Scheduled Castes (15%), Scheduled Tribes (7.5%) and Other Backward Classes (27%).
